Admiral Brad Cooper

Admiral Brad Cooper is a four-star US Navy officer commanding CENTCOM, the unified combatant command responsible for the Middle East. Commissioned from the Naval Academy in 1989, he previously led the Fifth Fleet and Operation Prosperity Guardian against Houthi attacks in the Red Sea. He is the first Navy admiral to lead CENTCOM since Admiral Fallon in 2008.

Cooper reported 10,000 targets struck and 92% of Iran's largest naval vessels destroyed , while confirming that Iranian missile launches had fallen 90% from day one . On 13 April his command operationalised Trump's blockade order by narrowing it to Iranian-port vessels only, without a public announcement . On 30 April Cooper delivered the first public economic accounting of the campaign: 44 commercial vessels, 41 of them tankers, carrying 69 million barrels of redirected crude had been turned around at sea — up from 38 vessels on Day 60, a six-vessel increase in four days .

On 15 April Cooper told reporters US forces had 'completely halted economic trade going into and out of Iran by sea' within a day and a half of the blockade beginning. The pre-war baseline was 135 transits per day; 8 is roughly 6 per cent.
