Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship Lyme Bay arrived in the Middle East on 23 June. It carried two robotic mine-hunters: Royal Navy minehunter Ariadne and France's Sirius. HMS Dragon and two German naval vessels escorted them. More than 270 personnel are aboard.
The deployment puts the most capable allied autonomous mine-clearance package yet assembled near the strait of Hormuz, where Iranian minelaying has blocked commercial shipping since June.
