Pearson Engineering is a British defence company based in Newcastle upon Tyne, specialising in vehicle-mounted combat engineering equipment: mine ploughs, rollers, combat dozer blades and lane-marking systems that attach to armoured vehicles. It is the British Army's primary supplier of minefield-breaching attachments and has supplied systems to NATO allies and Ukraine.
The company also develops Threat-Sense, an AI mine-detection system that uses deep-learning algorithms to identify surface-laid anti-tank and anti-personnel mines ahead of vehicles; in NATO trials it achieved more than 95% detection with fewer than 10% false alarms, and it is certified for use on Skydio drones for airborne mine identification. Pearson Engineering's shift into AI-guided detection places it at the leading edge of a structural change in ground warfare, removing soldiers from the most dangerous phase of an assault, and its Newcastle base keeps that expertise within the UK's sovereign industrial base.
