RENK Group AG is a German manufacturer of high-performance transmissions, propulsion systems and drive components for military and civil applications, headquartered in Augsburg. Founded in 1873, the company has supplied drivetrain systems for armoured vehicles and naval platforms for more than 150 years, including the Leopard 2 main battle tank and major NATO armoured fleets. Its flagship line for armoured vehicles is the HSWL series of hydrostatic-mechanical propulsion systems, combining steering, progressive braking and power transmission in a single digital unit.
As European defence budgets expand and autonomous ground vehicles move toward operational deployment, RENK is positioned as a tier-one supplier across both crewed and uncrewed heavy armoured systems.
RENK secured the first TRACKX hardware order
RENK's HSWL 076, a roughly 700 kg digital transmission for the 10-20 tonne vehicle class, won a pre-series supply contract for the Patria-led TRACKX heavy autonomous vehicle programme, announced in the same week Finland and Sweden signed their joint funding arrangement at Eurosatory 2026.
The order is the programme's first binding industrial commitment, placed before any government has signed a firm procurement order. For RENK it extends a drivetrain business built on the Leopard 2 and NATO armoured fleets into the emerging market for autonomous heavy vehicles.
