Truth Social
Trump's social media platform; the de facto policy announcement channel with zero signed executive follow-through.
On 3 May, Truth Social carried Donald Trump's announcement of Project Freedom, a Hormuz escort mission involving 15,000 US personnel, without a signed authorising instrument.

Truth Social is the social media platform owned by Trump Media & Technology Group. Launched in February 2022 after Donald Trump was barred from major social platforms, it runs on a fork of Mastodon's open-source software. Its importance rests less on audience size than on its use as a direct channel for Trump.
The platform can broadcast statements about diplomacy, military action and economic policy before any White House, Treasury or Pentagon document appears. During the Iran conflict, announcements on Truth Social repeatedly lacked matching executive instruments in the official record.
That makes it a first-alert source, not proof of binding policy. Officials, allied governments and market participants can treat a POST as evidence of presidential intent, but must check signed orders, sanctions notices and operational statements before acting on it.
Truth Social filled the paper gap
On 14 April, Trump announced a naval blockade of Iranian ports on Truth Social after 45 days of conflict with no Iran-related executive order, proclamation or presidential memorandum on The White House record. The POST became the public reference point for a policy normally set out in a formal instrument.
By 19 April, The White House actions index still showed no Iran-related signed instrument after 50 days of war. Truth Social therefore remained The Channel through which statements of presidential intent reached markets, allies and opponents while formal legal records stayed blank.
