Background
Kuwait International Airport has been struck repeatedly since Iran expanded its campaign to Gulf infrastructure. On Day 30, Iranian drones hit fuel storage tanks, sparking a large fire and forcing temporary flight suspensions.
The airport serves as Kuwait City's sole commercial hub and handles regional connections for over 10 million passengers a year. Iranian strikes on Gulf airports are part of a deliberate pressure campaign against US-allied Gulf States that allow Coalition forces to operate from or transit their territory. Kuwait hosts US forces at Ali Al Salem and Camp Arifjan. An earlier strike hit the airport radar system, the second such attack in the conflict.
By the time of the fourth confirmed airport strike in seq 48, the Gulf Cooperation Council had begun emergency air-corridor discussions. Iran has simultaneously struck Kuwait's Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery and a desalination plant, killing the first confirmed fatality on Kuwaiti soil on 30 March 2026.
