Khasab

Khasab is an Omani port on the Musandam Peninsula, close to the Strait of Hormuz. UK Maritime Trade Operations logged a projectile strike and fire east of Khasab on 8 August, although the vessel identity and position remained unresolved.

Commercial shipping around Oman has faced repeated risks during the conflict. An earlier attack struck the Qatari carrier Al Rekayyat near Limah in Oman on 7 July . Traffic through the strait remained far below normal in late July .

Khasab matters because incident reports near the port affect vessels using the narrow approaches to Hormuz. Its location makes it a reference point for navigational warnings, not proof that every nearby report concerns the same vessel.
