Iran Conflict 2026: IRGC sets Kuwait's Shuaiba complex alightBackground
The Kuwait Fire Force is Kuwait's national firefighting and emergency response service, a domestic body distinct from the country's military.
The Kuwait Fire Force contained the BLAZE at several generating units of the Shuaiba power and desalination complex after an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps strike on 17 July. The strike was the second on a Kuwaiti desalination site inside two days, and it prompted the country's electricity ministry to ask residents to ration water and power nationally.
As Kuwait's domestic emergency service rather than a military body, the force has taken on a frontline role in a war Kuwait itself is not fighting: the country hosts American forces, which put its infrastructure on the Artesh's declared target list, and the fire force is what stands between an infrastructure strike and a wider civilian emergency.
