Background

Al-Manar is the principal media outlet of Hezbollah, broadcasting from the Dahiyeh district of southern Beirut. Founded in 1991, it operates as both a satellite television channel and a digital news platform, reaching audiences across the Arab world and diaspora communities in Europe and the Americas.

The channel functions as Hezbollah's primary communications instrument during military operations. During the 2006 Lebanon War, Israeli strikes targeted Al-Manar's broadcast facilities but failed to take it off air permanently. The United States designated Al-Manar as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity in 2006, and several European countries have restricted its broadcasts.

In the 2026 conflict, Al-Manar has served as the primary source for Hezbollah's operational claims, including rocket attacks on northern Israeli settlements and statements from the group's leadership regarding Ceasefire inclusion.
