Mayak

Mayak is the name used by Russian military sources to designate a production facility in Ukraine that Russia claimed was manufacturing the Flamingo cruise missile, a Ukrainian-developed strike weapon. The facility was listed among the declared targets of Russia's 14-15 June 2026 barrage of 611 drones and 70 missiles. Russia did not confirm the specific location publicly, and Ukraine has not confirmed Mayak's identity or the Flamingo programme details.

The Flamingo cruise missile is alleged by Russian military analysts to be part of Ukraine's expanding indigenous strike capability. Ukraine has invested heavily in domestic drone and missile development since 2022 to compensate for Western restrictions on using supplied weapons against Russian territory and to build strategic depth independent of external supply chains. The Mayak facility, if correctly identified, would represent a node in this supply chain.

Neither the existence of Mayak as a named site nor the Flamingo programme's specifications have been independently verified by open-source analysts as of 16 June 2026.
