Russia-Ukraine War 2026Background
Ukrainska Pravda is one of Ukraine's most cited online newspapers, and a main source on how Kyiv handles Washington. It reported on the Miami talks between US envoys and a Ukrainian delegation that ended after one of two planned days on 9 October 2026, and on Volodymyr Zelenskyy's answer to Donald Trump's call for a new Ukrainian leader.
Journalist Heorhiy Gongadze launched the site in April 2000 with Olena Prytula, its founding editor. Gongadze disappeared in September 2000 and his body was found near Kyiv about two months later; his murder made the outlet a symbol of Ukrainian press freedom. In May 2021 Prytula sold 100% of the outlet to the Dragon Capital group of investor Tomas Fiala. Sevgil Musaieva was editor-in-chief at the time of the sale.
Its war reporting reaches beyond diplomacy into the front and military technology. It reported, for example, that Ukraine's Sting interceptor drones destroyed two Shahed-type drones with their operator 500km away.
