Scott Hobbs Planning is the planning consultancy acting as agent for Shelborn Drummond Ltd in its appeal against Edinburgh Council's refusal of a 212.42 MW data centre at South Gyle.
The appeal reached the Scottish Government's Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA) on 31 March 2026 as case PPA-230-2794. A DPEA screening direction on 30 July 2026 overturned the council's own opinion that no environmental impact assessment was required, and on 12 August the firm confirmed to DPEA that its client will produce a full assessment .
DPEA has targeted 8 September 2026 for a decision on the appeal, with the case on hold since 11 August pending that assessment.
