Shelborn Drummond Ltd is the developer behind a proposed 212.42 MW data centre in South Gyle, Edinburgh. Edinburgh Council refused planning permission in principle for the scheme on 9 February 2026, and the company lodged an appeal with the Scottish Government on 31 March 2026, case PPA-230-2794.
The appeal had been proceeding on the basis that no environmental impact assessment was required, a position Shelborn Drummond had not itself sought to challenge. A screening direction reopened that question on 30 July 2026, and the company's planning agent, Scott Hobbs Planning, confirmed on 12 August that it will now produce the full assessment . That commitment adds evidence-gathering work to a case Shelborn Drummond had hoped would be settled on the papers already filed, with a decision on the appeal targeted for 8 September 2026.
