Shelborn Drummond Ltd is the developer behind a proposed 212.42 MW data centre in South Gyle, Edinburgh. Edinburgh Council refused planning permission in principle for the scheme on 9 February 2026, and the company lodged an appeal with the Scottish Government on 31 March 2026, case PPA-230-2794.
The appeal had been proceeding on the basis that no environmental impact assessment was required, a position Shelborn Drummond had not itself sought to challenge. A screening direction reopened that question on 30 July 2026, and the company's planning agent, Scott Hobbs Planning, confirmed on 12 August that it will now produce the full assessment. That commitment adds evidence-gathering work to a case Shelborn Drummond had hoped would be settled on the papers already filed, with a decision on the appeal targeted for 8 September 2026.
