Hossein Samsami is a member of Iran's Majlis aligned with the Paydari, or Steadfastness, Front. That faction is one of the Islamic Republic's hardline conservative blocs. His relevance is as a parliamentarian who states categorical objections to engagement with the United States.
On 16-17 June, Samsami publicly called the Islamabad memorandum constitutionally impermissible. He argued that negotiations with Washington on nuclear and regional affairs violated Islamic Republic principles. The hardline protest did not have reported military backing, and parliamentary opposition could not veto the deal where the Supreme Leader had given tacit approval.
Samsami warns against petrol rise
