Iran Conflict 2026Background
Daisy is the tentative name given by open-source analyst AtlasObserver to a Dominica-flagged product tanker, IMO number 9516545, linked to an explosion UKMTO logged 95 nautical miles south-east of Aden at 14:30 UTC on 5 August 2026 .
Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree separately claimed a strike on a tanker in the Gulf of Aden the same day. Several wire reports conflated this vessel with a distinct, unrelated Houthi claim against a tanker named Wafaa off Yanbu, more than 800 nautical miles away.
No flag state, owner or insurer has confirmed the identification. UKMTO's log records only the explosion itself, crew accounted for and no environmental impact reported; it does not name a vessel. The Daisy identification rests entirely on one analyst's tentative reading and should be treated as unconfirmed.
