Born is a municipality in the province of Limburg in the southern Netherlands, on the River Meuse about 10 kilometres north of Maastricht, and forms part of the Sittard-Geleen municipality. It lies within a historically industrial corridor built on coal mining and petrochemicals rather than defence manufacturing.
The town's industrial base belongs chiefly to the VDL Group, whose defence Arm, VDL Defentec, operates from Born's existing manufacturing infrastructure.
