The State Emergency Service of Ukraine, known by its Ukrainian initials DSNS, runs the country's state rescue and firefighting crews and publishes the official casualty counts after Russian strikes. It led the rescue after a Russian guided aerial bomb collapsed one entrance of a three-storey apartment block in Zaporizhzhia on 10 October 2026.
Its final count, published on 11 October when the search ended, was 23 people killed, four of them children, and 32 injured. Crews removed about 320 tonnes of rubble. An interim POST on the evening of the strike gave 20 dead, and the toll rose as rescuers worked through the debris.
Andrii Danyk has headed the service since the Cabinet appointed him on 28 June 2024, after four months as acting head. Its running tolls are the official figures after an attack, and they move as crews clear each site.
