Background
Nada Hamadeh Moawad is Lebanon's Ambassador to the United States, credentialed in September 2025. She signed the trilateral US-Israel-Lebanon ceasefire framework at the State Department on 26 June 2026, alongside Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter and US Counselor Daniel Holler, with Secretary of State Rubio presiding. Hezbollah's secretary-general Naim Qassem rejected the agreement within hours of signing.
Hamadeh is an economist rather than a career diplomat. She spent over two decades at the World Bank Development Data Group, managing flagship data initiatives including the World Development Indicators and International Debt Statistics series. She also advised Lebanon's Prime Minister on post-war economic recovery and held UN roles covering Middle Eastern economic analysis, and is co-founder and CFO of MedCap Health.
Her technically credentialled, non-factional profile reflected Lebanon's new government's intent to build reliability in Washington. The framework's swift Hezbollah rejection exposed the gap between what the Lebanese state can formally commit to and what its most powerful armed faction will accept.
