Background

Tenders Electronic Daily, known as TED, is the European Union's official public-procurement notice portal. It carried Belgium's 29 July 2026 tender for twelve underwater ROVs, the University of Malta's 31 July tender for a survey USV, and the University of Limerick's 3 August tender for a coastal and offshore ASV.

These were the only three uncrewed-systems notices the journal carried in that ten-day window, a period otherwise marked by an academic and small-buyer lull. That clustering is a feature of what TED happened to publish in this particular window, not evidence of a lasting shift in European procurement of uncrewed systems; a busier or quieter fortnight either side would change the picture.
