Serhii Koretskyi

Serhii Koretskyi is the CEO of Naftogaz, Ukraine's state-owned energy company and operator of its gas and oil pipeline network. Appointed to lead the firm during the war, he oversees an organisation that has transformed from a Soviet-era hydrocarbon transit operator into a frontline institution managing damaged infrastructure under active bombardment.

In March 2026, Koretskyi presented a repair plan for the Druzhba pipeline to EU Deputy Ambassador Gediminas Navickas, with Volodymyr Zelenskyy publicly pledging a 1.5-month repair timeline and the EU committing to fund the work.

The Druzhba repair bid places Koretskyi at the intersection of energy diplomacy and wartime reconstruction. Landlocked Central European states still depend on Druzhba flows; restoring the pipeline would reduce their exposure to Russian supply disruption while demonstrating Ukrainian state capacity to deliver infrastructure under pressure.
