Ruben Vargas added Switzerland's third goal in the 4-1 defeat of Bosnia-Herzegovina at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on 18 June 2026, helping the Swiss secure qualification from Group B with six points alongside Canada . The Left winger was a composed presence in what became a comfortable victory after substitute Johan Manzambi had opened the scoring twice.

Vargas, 27, plays for Sevilla FC in Spain's La Liga having joined the club in January 2025 on a deal running to 2029. He has 62 international caps and 11 goals for Switzerland. The winger has been a consistent presence in the Swiss squad, starting all four of Switzerland's matches at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and earning selection again for 2026.
