HECTOR is a wheeled, medium-class uncrewed ground vehicle made by ARX Robotics, the Munich robot maker. It can also carry a CREW, which makes it optionally crewed rather than purely robotic. It runs on ARX's software-defined Mithra OS.
ARX proposes HECTOR as an autonomous wingman for the British Army's Ajax armoured vehicle. ARX Robotics UK and General Dynamics Land Systems UK agreed on 16 September 2026 to explore that pairing, with final assembly in South Wales. The Ajax link would use the Generic Vehicle Architecture, so the armoured vehicle's CREW could direct it.
HECTOR is the wheeled sibling of ARX's tracked GEREON robot, the first of which reached Ukraine on 29 September 2026. Where GEREON is already delivered, HECTOR remains a proposal without a funded order.
The wingman deal remains a concept
On 16 September 2026 ARX Robotics UK and General Dynamics Land Systems UK agreed to TEAM HECTOR with Ajax, with final assembly and machining in South Wales. The link would run through the Generic Vehicle Architecture, the British Army's common electronic standard, so an Ajax CREW could task and monitor HECTOR from inside the vehicle.
According to reports, nobody has costed the idea and the Ministry of Defence has put no money into it; it sits at concept stage. HECTOR has no published order, quantity or price. Its maker's wider expansion in September and October, including first GEREON deliveries to Ukraine on 29 September, also came without numbers, so the vehicle's prospects rest on an Army programme decision that has not yet been made.
