Defense Drones Tech Corp (UDD) competed in the Pentagon's Drone Dominance Gauntlet Stage 1 at Camp Grayling, Michigan (8-20 June 2026) as a returning Phase 1 award winner. The Gauntlet tested 49 companies and 79 drones across mission areas; approximately ten vendors per area are expected to advance to Gauntlet II, where price ceilings are $5,500 for long-range and $4,500 for close-quarters airframes, with winning orders of 4,000-9,500 units. Gauntlet II bars motors and batteries sourced from China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea.

UDD's flagship F10 quadcopter scored 72.9 out of 100 points in the Phase 1 evaluation, securing a procurement contract with the US Army and a return invitation to Phase 2. The company is one of two Ukrainian drone manufacturers invited to the Gauntlet programme, representing a broader Pentagon strategy of validating combat-tested Ukrainian suppliers for the US defence-industrial base. The Drone Dominance Programme ultimately plans to spend $1.1 billion procuring 300,000 FPV drones from top performers.

UDD's position in the Gauntlet exemplifies the strategic logic of the Build with Ukraine concept: drones tested under live combat conditions in Ukraine arrive at US evaluations with an operational track record that no peacetime-developed competitor can match. The bill-of-materials inspection requirement in Gauntlet II is a direct challenge for Ukrainian suppliers dependent on Chinese components, and passing it would significantly validate UDD's supply-chain sovereignty credentials for future US procurement.
