TKMS Atlas UK (formerly Atlas Elektronik UK) is the Royal Navy's primary industrial partner for autonomous mine warfare, based at Winfrith in Dorset with waterside access at Portland Harbour. It designs and delivers sonar systems, autonomous underwater vehicles and marine electric actuation, and its Project Wilton programme delivered the UK's first fully autonomous end-to-end minesweeping capability to the First MCM Squadron at Faslane.
Incorporated in 2005 as Atlas Elektronik UK, the company became a wholly owned TKMS (ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems) entity in 2017. Alongside Thales UK, it is one of two principal suppliers on the Franco-British MMCM programme managed through OCCAR, which received a £184 million joint production contract in 2020.
Its Portland test range makes it the primary sea-trial site for British autonomous underwater systems, giving it strategic relevance across NATO mine-warfare development.
