Alexandra Geese

Alexandra Geese is a German member of the European Parliament for the Greens/EFA group, sitting on committees covering the digital single market and technology regulation. She has been a consistent voice on digital-rights and sovereignty questions, including the Digital Services Act's platform accountability provisions and the Commission's broader tech sovereignty legislative agenda.

In May 2026, on the third slip of the Cloud and AI Development Act's (CAIDA) adoption date, Geese put on the public record what others in Parliament had said only privately: that the EU had deliberately kept digital rules out of the August 2025 EU-US trade framework, yet Washington kept pressing on the DSA regardless, and that pressure was directly connected to the CAIDA delay. The intervention named a mechanism the Commission could not formally acknowledge.

She took the same critical line when the Commission's first Digital Markets Act fine against Google landed on 23 July 2026, calling the 890 million euro penalty disappointing and unrelated to the scale of damage Google had done to the European economy. Her positioning puts her at odds with the German government's more conciliatory posture toward Washington on digital enforcement.
