The Uganda Media Centre is the Ugandan government's communications office in Kampala, the venue government ministers use for formal national announcements.
On 28 July 2026 it hosted Minister of Health Chris Baryomunsi's declaration that the country's Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak was over, closing an outbreak that had run since a 15 May declaration with 20 people infected and two dead. The announcement carried no named World Health Organization representative or joint signature, despite WHO's own surveillance clock still running at the time. As a state institution, its choice of venue and framing for the announcement carried its own significance: a purely domestic occasion rather than a jointly badged international one.
