Data Centres: Boom and BacklashBackground
Tag Greason is co-chief executive of QTS Data Centers, an operator with 75 facilities in operation or under development across the US and Europe, backed by Blackstone. He and co-chief executive David Robey succeeded Chad Williams as the company's leaders after Williams stepped down from two decades running it.
After Governor Abbott ordered the review on 3 August 2026, Greason and Robey met it with public support rather than pushback: "We welcome Governor Abbott's leadership and look forward to working with him to establish clear guardrails for the industry".
The stakes for operators like QTS turn on how ERCOT sorts genuine build-out from speculative reservations. Its Batch Zero classification, suspended the same week the audit letter arrived, is the mechanism meant to make that distinction across a queue running to roughly 205 GW.
