Iran Conflict 2026: Treasury names 10 Iran missile suppliersBackground
Shahid Bakeri Industrial Group, usually shortened to SBIG, is the Iranian state body that owns the solid-fuelled side of the country's missile work: ballistic missiles and artillery rockets, including the Fateh-110 family. It sits under the Aerospace Industries Organization, which reports to Iran's Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics. Treasury identifies it in those terms.
It is among the oldest names on the Iran lists. The annex to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1737, adopted on 23 December 2006, records it as an entity involved in Iran's Ballistic missile programme and as a subordinate of the Aerospace Industries Organization. The European Union listed it the same month. The United States has designated it for years.
Solid motors launch faster and store longer than liquid-fuelled ones, and their chemistry is harder to replace with domestic substitutes than drone electronics are. So when Treasury places SBIG at the receiving end of a foreign procurement chain, as it did in September 2026, that says something about which Iranian programme still depends on imports.
