Nomads & CommunitiesBackground
Seychelles is an island republic in the western Indian Ocean, made up of more than 100 islands north-east of Madagascar. Victoria, on the main island of Mahé, serves as its capital. Tourism is the core of its economy, so other countries' entry rules matter to it in two directions: they govern how Seychellois travel as well as how visitors arrive.
Thailand's revised Visa-exemption schedule shows where the country sits in other states' entry systems. Under rules published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August 2026, Seychelles and Mauritius receive a 15-day exemption from 15 September, against 30 days for most other exempt nationalities.
Seychelles gets a shorter Thai stay
Thailand's Interior Ministry announcements, published in the Royal Gazette on 31 August, put Seychelles in a small group with a 15-day Visa exemption from 15 September. Mauritius sits in the same group. Citizens of 60 other countries get 30 days, cut from 60.
For a Seychellois traveller the practical effect is a two-week window before a Thai Visa is needed. The same rules limit most visitors entering by land to two Visa-free entries a year, which closes the border-run route some long-stay visitors used. The 15-day tier gives Seychelles the shortest exemption of any country named in the new schedule.
