Nizar Al-Rashdan

Nizar Al-Rashdan is a Jordanian central midfielder who gave his country a historic lead in their 2026 World Cup debut, scoring in the 38th minute against Algeria with a first-time outside-of-the-boot finish to put Jordan 1-0 up. It was the first time Jordan had ever led in a World Cup match. Algeria ultimately came from behind to win 2-1, eliminating Jordan, but Al-Rashdan's goal stood as a landmark moment for Jordanian football at its first World Cup.

Born in Irbid in 1999, Al-Rashdan came through the Jordanian domestic league with Al-Hussein before moving to Al-Faisaly, where he won the Jordanian league title in 2022 and the Shield Cup twice. He has since played across the Middle East, with spells at Al Zawraa (Iraq), Al Khalidiyah and Emirates Club before joining Qatar SC in January 2026 on a contract running to June 2027. His career represents the tier of professional footballer who achieves meaningful international moments outside Europe's top leagues, building a career across the Gulf and Middle Eastern football ecosystem.

Al-Rashdan's goal against Algeria gave Jordan's debut tournament its defining individual moment.
