Amine Gouiri

Amine Gouiri is Algeria's most dynamic attacking option at the 2026 World Cup and one of French football's most prolific young forwards. Against Jordan in Santa Clara on 22 June, he came off the bench to head Algeria's winning goal in the 82nd minute, rising to convert a corner from an acute angle after goalkeeper Yazeed Abulaila was caught off his line. The goal sealed a 2-1 comeback win that eliminated Jordan and kept Algeria in genuine contention to advance in Group J.

Born in Lyon in 1999 to Algerian parents, Gouiri developed at Lyon's academy but made his professional breakthrough at Nice before joining Rennes. In January 2025, Marseille paid roughly €22 million to sign him, a transfer that proved an immediate success: he scored 10 goals in 14 appearances to close out his debut half-season. Marseille's new-season form has built on that foundation. He scored a brace against Bolivia in warm-up matches before the 2026 World Cup to establish himself as Algeria's primary striker.
