Saudi Arabia's General Transport Authority is the state body the Saudi Press Agency cited when confirming a fire aboard the tanker Encelia after a Houthi strike in the Bab al-Mandab on 22 July. The authority oversees Saudi Arabia's transport and shipping regulation, and in this instance acted as the official channel confirming the crew's safety.

Its statement was notable chiefly for what it Left out: the authority commented only on the Encelia, saying nothing about the separate, unconfirmed Houthi claim against the tanker Layla, struck in the same action. That selective silence is consistent with a regulator that verifies and confirms incidents rather than adjudicates contested claims: it speaks when there is a confirmed fact to state, and stays quiet when there is not.

As a specialist regulatory body rather than a policy-making ministry, the authority's public footprint in the Iran conflict has so FAR been limited to this single confirmation, reflecting a narrow REMIT over shipping safety and incident verification rather than broader diplomatic or military commentary.
