Background
FC Bayern Munich is Germany's most successful football club, founded on 27 February 1900 by dissenting members of a Munich gymnastics club. Based at the Allianz Arena, Bayern has won a record 34 Bundesliga titles, including eleven consecutive championships between 2013 and 2023, and six European Cup/Champions League titles (1974, 1975, 1976, 2001, 2013, 2020). The 2012-13 season brought a continental treble. Bayern's dominance of German football, built on a conveyor belt of homegrown and marquee signings from Franz Beckenbauer to Thomas Müller, has made it the benchmark against which every other Bundesliga club is measured, and one of European football's wealthiest and most closely watched institutions.
Bayern moved fast after the 2026 World Cup group stage to sign Morocco's Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven on 1 July, a deal reported at around EUR55 million running to 2031. Saibari scored in all three of Morocco's group matches leading the line as a lone striker before limping off injured against Canada, putting his fitness for Morocco's 9 July quarter-final against France in doubt . The move gives Bayern a ready-made attacking option shaped by a breakout tournament, arriving with his World Cup commitments still unresolved.
