Bahrain International Airport

Bahrain International Airport, at Muharraq, is Bahrain's main civil airport and the hub of national carrier Gulf Air, serving as a regional connecting point on the western side of the Gulf, and the kingdom's principal gateway for international travel and air cargo. The airport underwent a major modernisation programme completed in 2020, adding a new passenger terminal built to expand capacity well beyond its previous limit, and it normally handles several million passengers a year as Bahrain's only commercial airport.

Bahrain International Airport's operations were disrupted alongside Kuwait's during the mid-July wave of Iranian attacks on Gulf infrastructure, with the two airports recovering together by the following Monday morning and passengers told to check flight status.

Bahrain separately sounded sirens on 19 July and said it had thwarted Iranian missile and drone attacks, placing the kingdom among the Gulf States, alongside Kuwait and Jordan, absorbing direct attacks during the same week without being a principal combatant in the war.

The airport's disruption fits the same pattern seen across Gulf aviation that week: Emirates, Etihad Airways, Air Arabia and Kuwait's own flag carrier all cancelled or cut Kuwait services, showing that Iranian and IRGC strikes on infrastructure, rather than direct military confrontation alone, have been enough to disrupt commercial life across several Gulf States at once.
