It remains subject to a rescue attempt after an earlier plan led by KKR collapsed; a new consortium, London & Valley Water, backed by Elliott Management and Apollo Global Management, proposed £3.35bn of new equity and £3.25bn of fresh debt on 21 July 2026, subject to Ofwat approval, public consultation and High Court sign-off.
