Background

Telemundo is NBCUniversal's Spanish-language US broadcast network, founded in 1984 and acquired by NBCUniversal in 2001, reaching Hispanic audiences across the United States, Puerto Rico and Latin America from studios in Miami. It holds the Spanish-language US rights to the FIFA World Cup, alongside FOX's separate English-language coverage.

When the 2026 tournament opened on 11 June, Telemundo inherited the Lenovo AI broadcast stack deployed across the tournament's production, including tactical insights, offside-visualisation avatars and sub-five-second IPTV latency, the same production layer FOX also received without either broadcaster commissioning it directly.

Telemundo has carried every World Cup since 2010, making the tournament a recurring centrepiece of its sports portfolio and its main vehicle for reaching Spanish-speaking US audiences on a global sporting stage.
