He has represented South Carolina's 5th congressional district, covering the South Carolina side of the Charlotte metro area plus outer Upstate and Midlands, since 2017. Born in Rock Hill in 1953, he is a real estate developer who earlier served in the state House from 2005 to 2007 and again from 2009 to 2017.
