Luis Diaz arrived at the 2026 World Cup as one of the most in-form wingers in European football, having scored 15 goals and 14 assists in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich during the 2025-26 season. He scored and assisted in Colombia's 3-1 win over Uzbekistan, contributing to a dominant group stage showing for a Colombian side many consider genuine contenders. With 21 goals in 71 international appearances, Diaz ranks as Colombia's fourth-highest scorer of all time.
