Liander is a Dutch regional distribution system operator, part of the Alliander group, responsible for electricity and gas networks across several Dutch provinces including North Holland.
In the week of 29 July 2026 Liander signed a heat-network agreement alongside developer Switch Datacenters, the municipality of Uithoorn and a collective of greenhouse growers, covering a planned 60 MVA data centre at De Kwakel-Kudelstaart. The deal forms part of an exception route around provincial rule NH2020, which otherwise bars data centres of that size from the area, with the site's waste heat displacing gas the growers currently burn .
As the grid operator, Liander's role is the physical connection: signing on commits it to carrying the load for a facility whose planning approval rests on the same agreement.
