I Wayan Sumarajaya heads the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, the body responsible for publishing the island's headline foreign-arrival and PWA levy figures. His most recent report, covering the period to 26 July 2026, showed roughly 3.7 million foreign arrivals against Rp208 billion in levy receipts .
The same reporting line has previously put levy payment compliance at 32 per cent for full-year 2024 and 36 per cent for the period to 20 October 2025, the only confirmed rates on record . No 2026 compliance rate has yet been published alongside the arrival and receipt totals.
Sumarajaya's figures are also the evidentiary basis for outside scrutiny: Indonesia's Ombudsman has used his office's own compliance data to argue the province is not collecting from a majority of eligible visitors, even as the tourism office presents rising totals as proof the system is working.
