Hyundai Engineering is a South Korean plant engineering and construction company, founded in 1974 and part of Hyundai Motor Group. It is a separate company from Hyundai Engineering & Construction, which was its largest shareholder in 2021 with 38.6%. Group chairman Chung Eui-sun held the second-largest stake that year, 11.7%, and Hyundai Mobis and Kia also held shares.
Its partner at Cheongna is KT Cloud, which announced the project on 7 October 2026 and acts as the design-build-operate partner, planning a liquid-cooled AI zone. Hyundai Engineering builds alongside it. Work is scheduled from the fourth quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2030.
The site lies in the Seoul capital region. Under a pricing plan published by KEPCO and the climate ministry in August 2026, industrial power would cost less outside southern Seoul and southern Gyeonggi, and AI data centres are named as a group the plan is meant to help.
