UK Startups and Innovation: Manchester payments firm raises £20mBackground
Gresham House Ventures is the growth-equity Arm of asset manager Gresham House, investing £1 million to £10 million into 10 to 15 UK companies at a time with enterprise values of roughly £10 million to £50 million. It sits alongside the group's older Baronsmead and Mobeus Venture Capital Trusts and manages assets of around £800 million across its venture strategies.
The fund backs founders across AI, consumer, cybersecurity and regtech, enterprise software, fintech and healthtech, typically at Series A to Series D, favouring businesses with strong underlying profitability rather than pure growth-at-all-costs models. Its portfolio runs to around 118 companies with 28 exits to date.
In September 2026 it led a £20 million Series B for Manchester payments company Ryft, described by several trade outlets as the largest UK payments Series B of the year, backing the firm's expansion into Europe and the US.
