UK Startups and InnovationBackground
Gowan is one of four agrochemical incumbents holding a research and distribution partnership with Moa Technology, the Oxford Plant Sciences spinout that closed a £22.2 million Series C on 23 July 2026 . Gowan is not an investor in the round; it provides a route to market for any new herbicide chemistry Moa develops.
Gowan is a family-owned agricultural inputs business headquartered in Yuma, Arizona, with entities in eleven countries including the UK, France, Italy and Spain. It employs more than 950 people and sells crop protection products, seeds and fertilisers in more than 70 countries.
Moa's chemistry reaches a field on partners' sales ledgers rather than its own, and Gowan's existing regulatory and distribution teams are what let a small spinout's laboratory discovery become a commercial product without Moa raising the capital to build that infrastructure itself.
