Figline Valdarno is a town in the Arno valley, south-east of Florence in Tuscany. Its economy has traditionally rested on farming and light industry rather than large-scale infrastructure.
From 13 August 2026 the town hosts the H2-Era Green Valley complex, an industrial development pairing renewable power generation with data-centre, farming and hydrogen operations. For Figline Valdarno, the project marks a shift towards energy-intensive industry brought by outside developers, Ge-Group and Comtel among them, rather than grown from local firms . The town itself remains the site, not the sponsor, of the development now taking shape on its land, joining a small number of Italian localities acquiring large-scale energy or data infrastructure this year.
