The Democratic Unionist Party is a Northern Ireland unionist party that co-governs Stormont's mandatory executive with Sinn Féin. On 31 July 2026 its leader, Gavin Robinson, rejected Sinn Féin's accusation that the DUP lacks the political will to sustain power-sharing, saying the party remains 'committed to' the institutions and to 'delivering for the people'.
The exchange followed Sinn Féin representative Conor Murphy's warning that the executive was 'in a precarious place'. A funding dispute with the Treasury over public services sits beneath both parties' public statements.
On 11 August a Sinn Féin minister paired a fresh commitment to the executive with a complaint that the DUP itself has grown harder to work with, leaving Robinson's party publicly cast as the harder partner while the other side is the one staying put.
