Brian Roberts

Brian Roberts is overseeing Comcast's separation of its Media division, which holds the NBCUniversal cable networks and Sky, into an independent, investment-grade public company, a process the company confirmed on its 23 July 2026 second-quarter earnings call and expects to complete within roughly a year. He is working alongside Mike Cavanagh on the split, with Michael Angelakis brought back to accelerate it.

Roberts is Comcast's chairman and chief executive, and has led the company since 2002, building it from a cable operator into a media and technology conglomerate spanning NBCUniversal, Sky and Comcast's own broadband and network infrastructure. The Media division separation is one of the largest corporate restructurings under his leadership, and will determine how Sky, acquired by Comcast in 2018, accesses NBCUniversal's AI production tooling once the two companies are no longer under one balance sheet.
