For divers, a tethered ROV works alongside a person in the water rather than replacing one: it can carry lights, cameras or tools to a diver's position while a human at the surface keeps direct control over it. The vehicles are remotely operated, not autonomous, so a diver never has to trust an unsupervised machine near them underwater. No contract value has been disclosed for the order.
