BBC Sport delivered the BBC's flagship live coverage of the 2026 World Cup final on 19 July, contributing to a 15.8 million peak and 13.9 million average audience across BBC One and iPlayer, a 64% share of all UK television viewing during a match it shared as a simulcast rights-holder with ITV. The BBC Sport website and iPlayer served 11.1 million streams for the final, 2.4 million of them in ultra-high definition.

Its report on England's 3-2 win over co-host Mexico on 5 July, which sent England into the quarter-finals against Norway, was among its highest-profile World Cup dispatches of the knockout rounds.

BBC Sport is the sports division of the British Broadcasting Corporation, the UK's publicly funded national broadcaster, producing television, radio and digital coverage across major events including the World Cup, the Olympics and Wimbledon. It operates separately from BBC News and BBC Verify, the corporation's other specialist divisions, with its own dedicated production and commentary teams.
