Background
AWS GovCloud is Amazon's isolated region for US government agencies, their contractors and other regulated US workloads, run apart from Amazon's commercial AWS platform. Only accounts held by US Persons working for US organisations may use it; no European customer can buy it directly.
Civo drew on AWS GovCloud pricing, alongside a second US federal product, to build the sovereign-cloud comparison table behind its 10 to 30 per cent premium claim, published in May 2026. Civo has since taken that table off its site.
AWS GovCloud carries FedRAMP High and ITAR-handling accreditation built for the US federal market specifically; those credentials say nothing about price or performance in a European jurisdiction, which is the comparison Civo's table was actually making.
