Anthony Gordon was Born in Liverpool on 24 February 2001 and came up through Everton's academy after his own city's club, Liverpool, released him as a boy. A loan at Preston North End in the first months of 2021 sharpened him for a first-team breakthrough at Everton, and Newcastle United paid an initial £40m to sign him on 29 January 2023, where he has been a first-team regular since. He won his first England cap against Brazil in March 2024, has since collected a European under-21 title, a Euro 2024 runner-up medal and an EFL Cup winner's medal with Newcastle, and finished third at the 2026 World Cup.
Gordon put England ahead in the 55th minute of the semi-final against Argentina, turning in a Morgan Rogers cross, before Enzo Fernandez equalised and Lautaro Martinez scored a stoppage-time winner to send Argentina through 2-1. England dropped into the third-place playoff against France on 18 July.
Transfermarkt lifted Gordon's valuation from EUR65m to EUR80m in its 22 July post-tournament reassessment, alongside rises for Ferran Torres, Pau Cubarsi and Lamine Yamal.
